The Adventure Begins

Monday, January 23, 2023. I joined "The Sharks" trivia team this afternoon only to be reminded that there is a reason I no longer attend the Club's Trivia Night each month. My brain is filled with totally useless dates, times, places but none of what the rest of the world calls trivia. It is definitely trivial, just NEVER asked in trivia games. Even after a less than brilliant performance, the team graciously invited me back tomorrow night. After all I was responsible for one point. Whoopie! Okay smarty pants, lets see you name the five largest cities in the world without consulting Google or Alexa.

Following the awarding of prizes to the lucky winners, an "important" announcement was made. Experience has taught me to beware of these announcements. I was right. Here we go again. "Due to the political unrest in Peru, The Insignia will not be docking in Peru." Bye-bye Pisco Distillery tour. Some passengers had booked a trip to Machu Picchu which of course was cancelled days ago. I was feeling very smug about having gone there in 2020 thus I would not be affected as I am/was?? going to the Galapagos Islands leaving the ship from Manta, Ecuador for my flight to the Islands, then rejoining the ship in Lima. Yep, Lima, Peru. According to the announcement, everyone will receive a letter outlining the specific changes and how they impact each of us. At this writing the distribution of said letter has not made it to my level.

No matter. A big, wide, wonderful world chocked full of beauty and adventure awaits, absent political unrest. And, I think, I can still purchase Pisco Sours in Chile! No harm, no foul.
