Please forgive me my friends, I have just been having too much fun to post. As most of you know, I had been looking forward to the 2020 trip for almost two years only to have it abruptly ended by COVID-19. Then waited almost three years before embarking on this trip. Thus far it has been well worth the wait! Even the least fantastic day has been so absolutely wonderful.
oTo back up the coast a few days to beautiful Zihuatanejo (meaning beautiful lady) my excursion was "An Encounter with the Dolphins." Okay, this was not to swim with the dolphins, just "encounter". Dummy here did not interpret that to mean that we were to actually get into the pool with the dolphins so I did not take a swimsuit along. MISTAKE! Those more intelligent persons who came prepared, donned their swimsuits, jumped into the water and hugged, kissed, posed for photos kissing the dolphins, stood as still as they possibly could while the dolphins swam over, under and between the people. Even on dry land, it was quite enjoyable. Then after the swimmers and encounters had finished, the stars of the day put on quite a show: flipping, diving, throwing balls, twirling a hoop with their nose, dancing on their tails, commanding their audience to applaud, talking to us and in turn applauding us. Brilliant creatures those dolphins. Well trained and from appearances well cared for. This excursion reminded me of a trip to SeaWorld years, nay decades ago, only much much better. Of course we were not allowed to take pictures inside the arena as they had photographers all over the place filming and photographing all the activity which were available for sale don't you know. It would have been nice if those in charge had been a little more informative and the trip a tad bit organized. Then when our local guide gave me the evaluation form I would not have been so vague, to which he felt compelled to give it to me a second time. That was his mistake of the day. Don't ask me something if you do not want to hear my opinion. No it was not his fault that I had failed to bring a swimsuit. That was on me. The total lack of organization, information and guidance to and from the Center was, however, on him. Worst excursion thus far and it was wonderful. What can I say.
We were greeted to town by a Mariachi band and dancers in colorful traditional attire. Apparently they perform, in the sun all day long when a cruise ship is in port. Another Chamber of Commerce preferred day weather wise. Clear blue skies, crystal clear water, light breeze, white sandy beaches. What's not to like? Truly a beautiful area. Alas our internet connection is not cooperating sufficiently for me to include photos. I shall inundate you with all my many pictures as soon as possible. Sadly, no dolphins to include.
Today IS Someday. Swim with the dolphins when you can!
