Day 100 of this most incredible experience finds The Vista and its passengers docked at Falmouth on the southern coast of Cornwall. Cornwall rang some bells in my memory bank, Falmouth - nope, not at all. But when one finds oneself in Falmouth, what is one to do? Solution: take a scenic Cornish drive through several other heretofore unheard of towns. No worries, I much prefer to see the countryside than cities any day of the week. The drive did not disappoint offering up more beautifully manicured countryside with its ever present hedgerows in place of fences. Some plots cultivated, others seemingly not. All green as green can be. In the description of the excursion, mention is made of a drive to Mount St Michaels complete with photo op. This undoubtedly occurred, however, I have no such photos nor memory of such an opportunity...

I do remember, and have photos to prove, a stop along the beach somewhere before reaching Penzance where we were treated to a proper "Cornish cream tea." What is a proper Cornish cream tea, one might ask? Not wanting to show my ignorance, I simply took a seat at one of the proffered tables and enjoyed a delightful cup of tea and a delicious scone. Both a creamy butter spread and a very tasty jam were available for garnishing the scone. All the while, I'm thinking to myself, this is just tea, albeit very good tea. Why do they call it cream tea? Back on the bus, the mystery was solved when our guide asked us, "So, what is the answer to the riddle? Does one butter the scone first and then add the jam, or spread the jam directly on the scone then add the creamy butter?" Seems this has been a subject for debate in this region for eons... With all the World's problems, does it really matter? To those who make their home in Penzance, apparently, it does. Either way you choose... it is delicious.
